In these terrible days of war, I went back to the only thing that makes sense to me when nothing else does: sewing.
I had this sorry pile of crumpled silk that was a (unfortunately) too small AND after the date of return preasent for my birthday last year. In defense of the person that gave me the preasent (my sis <3), I did love the colour and texture and did put off trying to change the size because…well I just can’t be bothered to go into underwear shops and actually try things on.

So last year, when I finally challenged the lady at Intimissimi to change it for a larger size (only one day after the date on the ticket) and she refused, as any good sewist I marched out and went straight to find some lace and some thread at the Antica Merceria Brumana. Fortunately I found this lovely beige lace that looked nice.
After that I started a number of projects and have been putting this upcycle-enlargement off for well…nearly a year. I decided to takle this project to get back into my sewing mojo (that’s a thing apparently…called Sewjo). After verious disastrous attempts at putting snaps on a pinafore dress I have been making for like forever (spoilers: i finished it last night after starting in… ahem October!!!), I decided to takle thes PJs hoping it would be easy peasy.
And surprise surprise it was!
I unstitched along both the legs and the top. And turned the raw edges at the side to be the same as the little openings you see in the picture. That made a neat edge that could be sewn to the lace.

I left the elastic around the waist and the underarms strap. A bit like in my previous post for the making the black dress, I inserted the lace in the gap and stitched along the sides. It didn’t come out very even but putting the lace ontop covered it up nicely.

And voilà larger (and fancier) pjs!
